Why Vote?

While I agree with Peter Joseph that the election process is basically a joke, a corporate-manipulated dog and pony show to give us all the illusion that we are in a democracy, I don't believe you should just sit at home and not vote.

According to Wiki, voter turnout for 2012 was somewhere around 57.5%. That means that 42.5% of America didn't show up to vote. That's nearly half! I'm sure a good portion of that was due to the enlightenment of most Americans to the game that's being played by the corporations and mainstream media.

But what if that entire 42% voted Green? What if, rather than sitting around drinking beer and bitching to their friends how screwed up the system was, what if they all voted for Jill Stein? If the entire 42% voted for Jill Stein, she would be our next president.

What if only 30% voted Green? They wouldn't have won, but the voters who voted for Obama just to keep Romney out of office would have seen that they actually had another choice who could win.

Think about that.

It took me about 10 minutes to vote (cuz I live in the boonies). I got up off my ass, voted for Jill Stein, and was one of the few Americans who voted against the 'system' for a woman who wanted to provide free health care, free higher education, sustainable energy and an end to fossil fuels.

While she may not have achieved all those goals while in office, thanks to all the Republicrats that would block her actions (at least this term), electing the green party to office would send a message to the rest of the voters, those to whom the mainstream media only fed information about the Republicrats. That message would be that there was a whole political party out there that the mainstream media 'purposely" rarely mentioned. It would tell them that they didn't have to play this game any more, that they DID have a choice, and that their vote didn't have to be forced on them for fear that the most evil candidate would win.

Probably not, you say?

The system is not the way it is because of the sheep who follow the media - and the fact that nearly half of you didn't vote is proof of that.

The system is the way it is because those who did nothing let it get that way. Those who did nothing allowed it to happen, and are just as much at fault for this system as those who voted for Obamney.

In fact, those who did nothing are even more at fault than the sheople who follow FOX News, because they know better!

Long term, major change doesn't come from a single action. It comes from a long series of daily, tiny actions that all accumulate, each action being an example to the next person to take his/her action, step by step, until it all forms a giant tidal wave that creates change.

Without the tiny steps, nothing changes.
